French auto parts maker Faurecia opened new plant in Ramnicu Valcea in the end of September, learned BalkanEngineer.com from Romania-Insider.com. The investment is worth 12 mln. EUR.

“Over 700 people will work in the new plant”, said Hagen Wiesner, Executive Vice President, Faurecia Automotive Seating. It is expected that the company will hire another 600 people by the end of 2017.

The plant, which covers some 12 000 sqm, aims to produce 280 000 trim covers by the end of this year. The covers are used by international car producers such as Renault, Peugeot, and Volkswagen.

In Romania, the company has factories in Talmaciu, where it produces car seats, Craiova, where the company manufactures emissions control technologies, and Pitesti, where Faurecia produces interior systems. Over 3 000 employees work in the group’s factories in Romania. Last year they generated sales of EUR 203 million.
