Sometimes the career begins where you least expect it. For Irena Rabadzhiyska, it began as a summer job installing electrical elements by ABB Bulgaria – Rakovski branch. By then, she had already been accepted to train as a “midwife” and saw her future in medicine. Today, however, 13 years later, Irena is a manager at the company and engineering has turned into not just a profession, but her way of thinking. In her interview with the company Engineer.BG regarding the “She Is An Engineer” initiative, she shared how this unexpected turn changed her life and the courage to transition from an engineering to a management role, and for the conviction that in engineering what matters is not stereotypes, but knowledge, curiosity, and results.

Teodora Sofronova from Multivac: I admire all the women who are professionally paving the way for future generations

SAT: Our experience with Holcim proves that process stability depends on the proper design of the on-site installations
Specifics surrounding automation in the cement sector, are connected primarily to two conditions; the continuous operation of installations and the aggressive environment (dust, thermal overloading and vibrations). In this context, the projects of the Bulgarian engineering company Systems Automation Technologies – SAT for Holcim factories in Germany and Bulgaria, highlight the practicality of engineering solutions in the field. Holcim factories operate 24 hours nonstop, in which the rotary kilns maintain a temperature of 1450°C, with pauses outside of scheduled repairs being out of the question. We examine how new control systems are implemented given such a production schedule—and the details of on-site engineering—through SAT’s projects in Beckum and Beli Izvor.
