Global IT company Redis, with a market capitalisation of $1 billion and annual revenues of $100 million, has announced that it will open a new engineering centre in Bulgaria, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from PR agency InfoGraffiti. The company, which provides data management and access services to more than 10,000 organizations worldwide, chose Bulgaria over 5 other countries for its R&D activities.
Redis offers real-time data access services to clients such as BNP Paribas, Visa, Netflix and others. Establishing an engineering center in Sofia, Bulgaria, provides an opportunity to attract talent from the region while strengthening the company's global operations.
Redis has already appointed a director to lead the new engineering center in Bulgaria - Ivan Atanasov, a professional with extensive experience in senior management positions who previously served as head of Uber's development center in Sofia and engineering manager at SAP.
"I am excited to be part of a legendary company that is creating a technology product of such great importance and huge popularity among the engineering community," said the new Country Director for Bulgaria.
Redis has "centaur" status - a startup with a valuation of over $1 billion and annual recurring revenue of $100 million. The young company represents an important addition to the IT scene in Bulgaria and contributes to the growth of the Bulgarian high-tech sector.
