The number of electric cars in Albania has seen a strong growth in the first half of 2025, with 8,701 electric vehicles already registered in the country as of the end of June. In the first six months, a total of 2,323 new electric vehicles were registered, which also contributes to the significant improvement in the country's air quality. According to official data, carbon dioxide emissions have decreased by about 11 million kilograms per year and the volume of air pollutants has decreased by about 383 m3. In addition, 74% of vehicles registered in the first half of 2025 meet the Euro 5 or higher environmental standard.

The trend towards increasing electric vehicles in Albania is also supported by government incentives and initiatives to promote cleaner transport. The authorities are actively working to expand the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, with new charging stations already built in major cities. This policy is expected to further stimulate interest in electric vehicles and accelerate the shift towards a more environmentally sustainable transport model in the country.
