Preparations are underway for the tests of a 53 MW photovoltaic park in southern Romania, Calaras County, with the facility expected to be commissioned in January 2023, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Romania-Insider.com.

This will be the second largest solar park in Romania, but not for long, as other projects reaching 1000 MW are being prepared in the country. Currently, the largest photovoltaic park in Romania is 56 MW and is located in Ciuperceni, Satu Mare County.

The new photovoltaic park in Frăsinet, in Călăraşi, was built under a turnkey contract (EPC) by Sunnerg, a company founded in Italy in 2017, which is active both in Italy and Romania, as well as in the UK, Spain, Portugal and Ukraine.
