Until recently, construction was considered an all-male field, but new policies and practices in the country are opening the doors for more female professionals and entrepreneurs.

One of the leading initiatives in this direction is the Global Engineer Girls (GEG) programme, implemented by Limak Group in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of North Macedonia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It provides scholarships and development opportunities for women in engineering, helping them to enter the construction industry more easily. This not only increases the number of skilled professionals in the sector, but also helps to introduce new ideas and innovations.

In addition to private initiatives, the state actively supports the integration of women in construction. According to Minister of Labour and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska, the government is working to ensure equal opportunities for women in various industries, including the construction sector. Diversity in teams has its advantages - companies with a balanced presence of men and women are more innovative and efficient. This trend is not only changing the construction industry in North Macedonia, but also making it more competitive, attracting more investment and creating new opportunities for development.

“Ultimately, more women entering the construction sector is not just a social change - it is a business opportunity that improves efficiency and quality in the industry,” adds Elena Pandeva.
