Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade, Serbia is in the final stages of an extensive reconstruction, modernization and expansion project. Construction and renovation works have been underway at the site in recent months, and passengers can expect a significantly improved customer experience from this summer. This information BalkanEngineer.com learned from SeeNews.com.

The sweeping changes are designed to improve efficiency and passenger satisfaction. Starting this summer, the airport will have 90 check-in desks, a significant increase from the previous 57. Passengers will now pass through 16 Border Patrol passport control channels and use 12 advanced baggage screening devices that allow electronics to remain in hand luggage.

In 2023, Nikola Tesla Airport saw a record 7.948 million passengers, an increase of 42% compared to the previous year. The trend continues in 2024 with a record 1,609 million passengers in the first quarter alone, up 23% year-on-year.
