The operator of the largest port in Albania, Durres Port Authority (DPA), had opened a tender for the first phase of the construction of a new port northwest of the city of Durrës, BalkanEngineer.com learned from SEENews.com. The current cargo handling activities should be transferred there.
The tender announcement states that the budget for the first phase of the project is 392 million euro, with the construction being expected to be completed within 40 months. The interested companies can submit their offers until 16th September 2024.
The first phase of the project will include the construction of a container terminal, breakwaters, access roads and other supporting infrastructure. The bidding process will also be overseen by the Dutch engineering company Royal HaskoningDHV, which is leading the project. At the moment, 15 international companies have already expressed interest in the tender.
