French automotive parts producer opens new factory in Romania
French auto parts maker Faurecia opened new plant in Ramnicu Valcea in the end of September, learned BalkanEngineer.com from Romania-Insider.com. The investment is worth 12 mln. EUR. “Over 700 people will work in the new plant”, said Hagen Wiesner, Executive Vice President, Faurecia Automotive Seating. It is expected that the company will hire another 600 people by the end of 2017.

Recycling group invests EUR 35 mln in new plant in Romania
Local company GreenFiber International, part of the recycling group Green Group, will invest EUR 35 million in the third plant for recycled synthetic fiber in Romania, learned BalkanEngineer.com from Profit.ro. The factory is located in Urziceni, 59 kilometers away from Bucharest, on the former industrial platform of ROFEP, a local producer of brushes for electric engines. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons of synthetic fiber per year.

China’s Betec to begin geothermal research in Serbia
A town and spa resort in the south of Serbia may get a geothermal heat and power plant with the capacity of 39 MW and 20 MW, respectively, learned BalkanEngineer.com from the official web page of the City of Vranje. Domestic company Betec Resources d.o.o., founded by Beijing Exploration Technology and Engineering Co. Ltd. from China, will initiate geothermal research next month in the municipality of Vranjska Banja. The probes will encompass 150 square kilometres.

German group acquires Romanian tiles factory
German group Braas Monier, which owns in Romania the Sibiu-based tiles factory BRAMAC, has signed an agreement to take over the tiles producer Elpreco, based in Craiova, from Irish cement producer CRH, announced Romania-Insider.com for BalkanEngineer.com. The total amount of the deal is EUR 8 million and includes both the asset acquisition price, as well as the costs related to the deal and the financing of the work capital, according to Braas Monier.

Daimler invested EUR 13 million in new production facility in Romania
German car manufacturer Daimler announced for BalkanEngineer.com that through its Romanian subsidiary Star Transmission, it has invested EUR 13 mln. in the expansion of its production facility for pipelines for high pressure in the Romanian town Cugir. Daimler will produce 17 different types of pipelines for high pressure for 5 types of gasoline engines in the enterprise with a total area of 4000 sq. m.

Serbian company reconstructs Skopje-Tetovo power line
Electricity Transmission System Operator of Macedonia (MEPSO) officially marked the inclusion of reconstructed highline Skopje–Tetovo into the electric network in Jegunovce in the country’s northwest, announced for BalkanEngineer.com from MEPSO. „The length of 110 kV overhead connection is 48 kilometres and total worth of the investment exceeds EUR 4 million“, the state-owned company said.

Serbian company Sinterfuse to invest 2.5 mln euro in Uzice factory
Serbian automotive industry supplier Sinterfuse DOO plans to invest 2.5 million EUR in a factory in the western city of Uzice, the country's economy ministry said. Sinterfuse, which operates in the field of non-ferrous metals casting, has promised to create at least 100 jobs in the next three years and has agreed a state support of 315,000 euro, the ministry said in a statement on Friday. According to the pressrelease, Sinterfuse is part of King Ltd Group, which operates also in Israel, the US and Turkey.

Automotive seats manufacturer to hire 500 by the end of 2016
Canadian car seats maker Magna Seating plans to open a further 500 jobs by the end of the year in Serbia when it adds a new facilty to its plant in Odzaci, local media reported for BalkanEngineer.com. The construction of the production facility is going according to plan, factory director Miro Vidosevic said, quoted by RTV. The plant in Serbia’s Vojvodina region currently employs 940, more than double the initial 400 staff it had when it started operations four years ago.
