Norwegian company Scatec has finalized the acquisition of a 77-MW wind farm project in Romania

Norwegian renewable energy producer Scatec has completed the acquisition of a 77 MW wind farm project in Romania, ready for construction, from the Swedish company OX2. The deal represents an important step in the company’s strategy to expand its operational capacity in Southeast Europe, BalkanEngineer.com learned from the international business publication SeeNews.

The future wind farm, located in southeastern Romania, already has all the necessary permits for urban planning and connection to the power grid. According to the commercial operation plan, the facility is expected to generate approximately 212 GWh of clean electricity annually, which is sufficient to meet the needs of tens of thousands of households and to reduce carbon emissions significantly.

Scatec plans to make a final investment decision and begin construction on the project in the coming months, with the wind farm expected to be fully operational by the end of 2027. For the Swedish company OX2, this marks yet another successful sale of a renewable energy asset in the Romanian market, where the company continues to develop a diverse portfolio of solar and wind projects with a total capacity of over 500 MW.
