SIS 45: Dutch plant-based food producer transforms product labeling with Sato FX3 LX printer

Dutch company SparcKitchen, known for its plant-based food products, has added the Sato FX3‑LX printer into its production process, to improve the company’s labelling process. "The new solution replaces manual processing with a fast, accurate and flexible method that meets the company's high standards and the strict requirements of the food industry," BalkanEngineer.com was informed by SIS 45, a company established in the field of packaging and labeling solutions that offers Sato products.

SparcKitchen is situated in Amsterdam and produces clean, natural and sustainable plant-based products for restaurants, hotels, catering and health services. Expanding its activity has allowed it to accommodate over 1000 restaurants in the Netherlands, but the manual labelling process has begun to hamper production. Placing 3 separate stickers onto every box – the product, shelf life and nutritional information - requires time, leads to frequent changes of rolls and increases the risk of errors. This creates a necessity for more effective, faster and reliable labelling.

SparcKitchen has picked the Sato FX3‑LX printer, which allows for the usage of a single universal design for the package, and the composition of the label changes depending on the specific product. This eliminates the need for multiple stickers and significantly increases the precision of the process.

"The compact printer with a touch screen prints batch codes, best-before dates and full ingredient lists from a single device, without the need for a computer. Employees work with pre-set templates, accessible directly from the screen, which reduces the risk of errors and facilitates the training of new staff. Even with small production runs, one long label with all the necessary information can be printed, which optimizes material consumption and facilitates inventory management," explained SIS 45.
