Internal logistics is one of those functions, which are rarely the focus. When all processes work according to plan, it remains almost invisible – the materials are available, the lines are working, schedules are being kept. In such a case logistics does the job most effectively. The moment there’s a slowdown or it is absent, its purpose becomes clear to all. Yanko Zlatanov, manager of “Internal logistics” at TESY has been working in this discipline for four years. His job relates to planning, coordination and controlling the movement of material during production, so that processes can follow a predictable rhythm. More regarding internal logistics, the dynamic between every day processes and working in an environment where every minute is important, commented Mr. Zlatanov to BalkanEngineer.com.

Internal logistics encompasses activities related to ensuring and moving material during production – from being collected to moving to the production lines. The process requires continuous planning and attention, as any deviation can reflect in the next steps.

"At one point, you work with specific details - quantities, locations, deadlines. Then you have to see the whole picture and assess how a change will affect the other processes," said Yanko Zlatanov.

The specialist compares his role to building a chain, where every part has its own time and place. The flow of materials, the planning of resources and the synchronization between teams needs to be decided upon, to avoid halting production.

"My job is to make sure all the elements come together at the right time. Planning is important, but equally important is being ready to react when something changes," he says.

For Mr. Zlatanov, the team plays a key role, both in dealing with operational challenges and in maintaining a stable work rhythm. Shared responsibility is part of the way logistics processes develop and improve.
