This year's edition of the Kopaonik business forum in Serbia ended last week, during which the launch of a number of changes in the country's energy sector was announced, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Balkangreenenergynews.com. This year, a law on the management of state-owned enterprises will be adopted and the International Monetary Fund is involved in its drafting, and the first step of the changes is to transform the state-owned electricity producer Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) into a joint-stock company.

According to Miroslav Tomasevic, director of EPS, the enterprise has had positive financial results since the last quarter of 2022, and an investment plan has been adopted according to which energy production will increase.
At the same time, one of the priorities of the Serbian government is a new energy policy and an active "green" transition, necessary to attract investments to the country. The draft amendments to the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources will be adopted by the National Assembly in the coming weeks, with a tender for wind energy facilities with a combined capacity of 400 MW expected to be held.
