An official delegation from the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg discussed the possibilities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources in North-West Bulgaria, strengthening supply chains between the countries along the Danube River and the implementation of joint projects with European funding, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Economy .bg.

The German delegation presented an idea for an investment in the construction of a biomass thermal power plant in the Vidin region, which would produce energy from waste from agriculture and plantations from the so-called "elephant grass". In this way, clean, "green energy" can be obtained. Waste materials from the plant's operation will be reused in agriculture as a soil improver. The "elephant grass" plant, in turn, can also be used for the production of paper, fodder, pellets, etc.

The experts pointed out that the biomass plant project will contribute to a number of economic, social and environmental factors, as climate-neutral fuels will be produced, and attention was drawn from the Bulgarian side to the fact that it could also receive funding under European programs based on of partnerships.

The meeting took place in the context of the long-standing successful partnership between the German province and Bulgaria, as well as the joint activities within the Danube Strategy.
