Two private companies are to build a railway line between Drach and Pristina, BalkanEnigeer.com has learned from BTA. The companies, members of the Austrian-Albanian consortium ILF Consulting Engineers Austria GmbH - ABKONS SH.P.K., have won a contract from the Albanian government to carry out a feasibility study and concept for the construction of a railway line linking the coastal Albanian city with Kosovo's capital.
The project, valued at 168.9 million Albanian lek, aims to create a new transport link between Albania and Kosovo, improving trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to the contract, the winners must complete the feasibility study and concept within 14 months. Their task includes carrying out a comprehensive study and analysis of the railway construction, including technical specifications, demand forecasts, environmental and social impact assessments, route options, risk analysis and economic optimisation.
