A key Rochester Electronics customer, which is a leading manufacturer of equipment for the industrial market, utilized a Quad Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitter (UART) semiconductor device in its fire alarm control panel products. This device is supplied by an original component manufacturer (OCM) who is also a supplier partner with Rochester. The UART component was being discontinued and made end-of-life (EOL) by the OCM and resulting in a line-down situation for the OEM.
