Shelly Group to build ultramodern factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, to produce its own chips

Bulgarian technology company Shelly Group (Shelly) will build a fully automated factory in Plovdiv to produce modules based on the company's proprietary chip. The new manufacturing unit is part of Shelly's strategy to become more independent and in control of its supply chains, and will provide capacity for tens of millions of devices a year. BalkanEngineer.com learned this from a statement by the company's CEO Dimitar Dimitrov.

The investment decision comes against the backdrop of the company's accelerated growth - the Shelley Group now has a market capitalization of over $1 billion and a strong presence on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The creation of a proprietary chip, developed in Taiwan, enables device miniaturisation, lower power consumption and the integration of additional functionalities. The company is now also offering its technology to external manufacturers - including in the home appliance and automotive sectors.

"The factory will be in-house, with a high degree of automation - the goal is to have no more than four people managing production," Dimitrov points out. The new facility is expected to be operational by early 2026.

In parallel, Shelley Group continues to actively expand its product portfolio with over 100 new developments per year, including smart controllers, miniature sensors and artificial intelligence-based solutions. In the long term, the company plans to take a leading role in the AIoT ecosystem - as a technology provider for connected, autonomous and intelligent devices.
