A new water pipeline will supply drinking water to nearly 33,000 people in the municipality of Belsh in Central Albania, BalkanEngineer.com learned from BTA.bg. The construction of the facility is carried out with the investment of the Albanian government.

In this project, for the first time, a system will be implemented whereby the water supply will produce the energy it needs for its operation by itself, thus reducing its operating costs.

There are four pumps along the new water line, each with a flow rate of 60 l/s, thus ensuring a continuous water supply for residents in the area. The pumps will be powered by a photovoltaic park, which will save nearly 400 million Albanian Lek per year (nearly 3.5 million euros), and the savings can be used for network maintenance or other investments.
