Imports of machinery, equipment and spare parts – an indicator of investment in the Albanian economy – rose by 4.1% year-on-year in January to a total of 12.6 billion lek. This is what BalkanEngineer.com learned from BTA.bg. In January 2022, its total value was 10.3 billion lek. Imports of machinery, equipment and spare parts are estimated at around 187 billion Lek in the whole of 2022.

The growth in the import of machinery, equipment and spare parts for manufacturing industries is related to the growth of activity in these sectors and the growing interest of businesses in using modern technologies that improve the quality of production.

Foreign direct investment inflows to Albania have maintained an upward trend in recent years, rising 35 percent year-on-year to 984 million euros in the first nine months of 2022, according to data from Albania's central bank.

For 2022, Albania's imports from China mainly include machinery, equipment and spare parts with an estimated value of 2.7 billion Lek. The import from Italy has an approximate value of 2.3 billion Lek, and the import from Germany is about 2 billion Lek.
