Tech giant Google has announced the opening of its own center at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania, within the Faculty of Automation and Computers, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Romaniajournal.ro. Google Lab is a center for students who want to develop their programming and digital product development skills and wish to become entrepreneurs and technology professionals.
Through the Google Lab, students from the Polytechnic University of the Romanian capital will have access to courses, workshops, summer schools, internship programs, debates and communication with representatives of the academic and technical world, hackathon competitions and grants.
Google Lab's program for the coming months includes a series of summer schools on various topics - such as UI/UX, IoT programming, Deep Learning for Computer Vision or Android Basics, coding workshops, undergraduate project completion consulting, a series of PhD and Master's student fellowships for IoT (Internet of Things) research, as well as monthly meetings and classes within the Software Engineering Career Program.
In addition, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies (cloud, wearables) will be a focus in Google Lab through the quarterly Google Tech Talks events, where Google experts will stand in front of students and IT professionals to guide them in creating hands-on tests.
