Deventer Hospital – leading regional hospital in the city Deventer, the Netherlands, famous for its high standard of medical care and modern infrastructure – successfully solves the serious problem with diesel emissions and the fine particles in the critical zones of the building. With the help of the unique double function filter City‑Flo XL by Camfil, the hospital has clean, safe and healthy air without the need of expensive reconstruction of the climate system.

"Although the hospital uses high-efficiency particle filters, molecular pollutants continue to pass through the system. The lack of space in the air handling units does not allow for the addition of separate carbon filters, and the additional resistance would exceed the capacity of the fans," explained Camfil Group – leader in the production of technical solutions for clean air in commercial and industrial environments. This necessitates the search for a solution that combines dust and molecular filtration in one module, without increasing the pressure drop and without requiring structural changes.
After a thorough technical analysis, Camfil offered City‑Flo XL – a highly effective “2 in 1” filter, which combines dust filtration ePM1 60% by ISO 16890 with a layer of activated charcoal for molecular cleaning. "Thanks to Rapid Adsorption Dynamics technology, the filter captures fine dust particles, gases, odors and VOCs on the first pass of the air, allowing for effective removal of diesel fumes and other molecular pollutants that are not captured by standard filters," the company said.
City Flo XL is designed with a low initial pressure drop and a maximum final drop, which according to EN 13053 is equal to the lower of the two values: the initial drop + 100 Pa or the initial drop multiplied by three. This guarantees that the filter doesn’t encumber the ventilators and can be integrated with existing climate chambers without changes in the construction. The filter is made of glass fibers and activated carbon, and the housing is solid, polymer with an aerodynamic shape, which ensures stability and optimal airflow.
