The Serbian Ministry of Economy has granted a 3.5m euro subsidy to Rivian SE Europe, the European division of US electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian. The funds will support the development of the research and development (R&D) center that the company opened in Belgrade in December 2022, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from a Serbian ministry announcement.

Rivian SE Europe has committed to invest at least 6.6 million euro by the end of 2025 and to employ at least 370 people by the end of 2025. By comparison, the company has 85 employees at the end of 2023. The subsidy will be paid in two tranches - EUR 3.2 million in 2025 and the remainder in 2026. In return, Rivian commits to maintaining a minimum of 370 jobs for at least five years.
The Belgrade center focuses on Rivian Automotive's software development, advanced driver assistance systems and enterprise technologies. In 2023, Rivian SE Europe reported revenues of 8.4 million euro and net profit of Dinar 59 million.
US-based Rivian Automotive, founded in 2009, has produced 49,476 electric vehicles in 2024 and delivered 51,579. Its European division in Belgrade continues to actively develop, also supporting the local economy with the support of the Serbian government.
