Kyova, a Japanese manufacturer of high-tech warehouse solutions, is expanding its presence in Bulgaria with a new 6 million euro factory

Kyova Europe, the European subsidiary of the Japanese technology company Kyova, has officially expanded its presence in the Bulgarian market with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sofia, BalkanEngineer.com learned from a report by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA). The large-scale project represents an investment of 6 million euros and is located at the Iskar Science and Production Zone (SPZ) in Sofia.

The new factory is one of Kyowa Manufacturing’s three strategic production facilities worldwide, with the other two located in Japan and the United States. The Sofia facility specializes in the manufacture of motorized rollers with built-in high-tech microcontrollers, used to power conveyors and smart systems for sorting and tracking cargo in logistics centers. As part of the expansion, two new production robots have been installed at the factory, which will optimize processes and increase capacity to 1,000 finished products per day.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria, H.E. Chikahisa Sumi; the President of Kyowa Manufacturing, Shigeyuki Fujimoto; and the Director of Global Marketing, Kazuya Ichieda. Company management emphasized that more affordable electronics are accelerating warehouse automation processes on a global scale, which opens up enormous growth opportunities for the Sofia division.

The Bulgarian team received a significant boost even during the pandemic thanks to its flexibility compared to larger competitors in the market. In addition to improving production efficiency, the new facility creates a more modern work environment for employees, while also strengthening economic and technological ties between Japan and Bulgaria in the industrial automation sector.

Kyova Europe’s management emphasized that the choice of Bulgaria for this next step in their expansion was driven by the country’s excellent geographic location, developed infrastructure, and the availability of well-trained specialists. The new facility is expected to increase the company’s export capacity and, at the same time, stimulate economic activity in the region by attracting additional subcontractors and partners.
