The technology company Classiq and Romania’s FreeYa Mind Campus have announced a strategic partnership to establish a center for the development of quantum computing-based applications in Iași, northeastern Romania. The new facility will combine a specialized software platform, quantum computing infrastructure, and training programs designed for research organizations, universities, and industrial enterprises. The collaboration is part of the development of the technology campus, which is preparing to deploy the IBM Quantum System Two, BalkanEngineer.com learned from an official announcement by Classiq.

The agreement calls for Classiq’s platform to be integrated into the operations of the existing Quantum AI Center at FreeYa Mind Campus. Unlike conventional computers, which process information using bits with values of 0 or 1, quantum systems use qubits, whose state can represent a combination of both values. This creates opportunities for developing new methods to solve certain complex computational problems. Among the applications being explored are the modeling of molecules and materials, the optimization of manufacturing and logistics processes, and the development of algorithms for scientific research. However, the technology is still under development, and its practical application in industry requires further research and testing.
The new center will collaborate with a network of companies, research institutions, and more than 12 partner universities. Training sessions are planned on the fundamentals of quantum computing, programming with Qmod, algorithm design, and the development of applications for specific engineering tasks. Government organizations, as well as participants in projects funded by the European Union, will also have access to the programs. Classiq will also open a regional office on the campus in Romania, which will coordinate work with clients and the implementation of joint projects.
FreeYa Mind Campus is being developed by the Romanian company Extensive Network SRL as an educational and research complex focused on quantum technologies and artificial intelligence. With Classiq’s involvement, the partners plan to expand the campus’s activities from providing computing resources to developing software solutions for businesses and scientific organizations. The partnership is described as a multi-year arrangement, but the specific value of the agreement and the timeline for the full rollout of the new activities have not been disclosed.
