Schneider Electric, global leader in digital transformation of energy control and automatization, announced a new push in its global initiatives for decarbonization in its supply chain during Climate Week in New York. The company, with years long presence and a developed network in Bulgaria, continues being a driving force for green transformation not just here, but also the rest of the world. With the increased selection of educational resources, regional market information and opportunities for cooperation, Schneider Electric strengthens its relations with its suppliers by helping them reduce their own carbon emissions. These efforts cover Scope 1 and 2 emissions, which fall into the Scope 3 category for customers – a key step towards building sustainable and responsible value chains.

Schneider Electric's decarbonization initiative encompasses over 2,700 supply companies and more than 50 global brand leaders. Thanks to them, over 752,000 MWh of electricity from renewable sources have been purchased through energy performance certificates, while over 1.3 TWh have been secured through collective corporate green energy contracts (PPAs).

Notable initiatives include:

  • Catalyze – An initiative that widens the access to renewable energy in the United States, Europe, Asia, having already acquired 9 corporative sponsors;
  • Energize – Originally intended for the pharmaceutical sector, it now covers the entirety of the healthcare industry, with the support of companies such as UnitedHealth Group, Teva и Sandoz;
  • Leap – A partnership with Levi Strauss & Co., which improves the supply chains of the company by pursuing a 42% decrease in emissions by 2030;
  • pep+ REnew Cohort – A co-initiative with PepsiCo, facilitating the first collective VPPA agreement in the United States.

“To provide its partners with even more opportunities, Schneider Electric expands training and education initiatives. Via the Zeigo Hub platform, suppliers have access to modules for greenhouse gas reporting, energy efficiency, electrification and implementation of circular economy principles,” Schneider Electric explained.
