The Austrian company for processing wood Kronospan will expand its production base in Veliko Tarnovo, BalkanEngineer.com learned from information in BloombergTV.

The intentions of the foreign investor include the addition of a production line for particleboard panels, with the idea for a production of medium-density fiberboard (MDF), which has not yet been done in the country.

The company’s investment plan is worth 300 million lev. The main objective is to establish an area where furniture manufacturers would be able to use the assembly line for particleboard. The Austrian company offers investors to use its materials in order to significantly reduce their logistics costs.

So far Kronospan has two plants in Bulgaria – one in Veliko Tarnovo and one in Burgas, were nearly 400 people work. Estimates show that with the new factory over 1000 new job openings would be created.
