Sabria and China signed a memorandum on Serbian rail transport

On January 6, 2021, the Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic and the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Chen Bo signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation regarding rail vehicles in Serbia, BalkanEngineer.com learned from eKapija.com.
It was signed between the Republic of Serbia, the company Srbija Voz a.d. and China Railway International Co., LTD and CRRC Corporation Limited. The memorandum agrees the cooperation and sets the foundations for potential orders for electric-powered trains with a speed of 200 km/h for passenger traffic on the future high-speed Belgrade Center-Novi Sad-Subotica railway line.
The memorandum also provides for the possibility of partnership for the establishment of a technical center for research and development, a training center, a maintenance center and a center for the production of railway vehicles, in accordance with the objectives of the cooperation projects and the market potential of of great importance for the development of the railway transport in Serbia and the accompanying railway industry in general, the website of the Government of Serbia, quoted by eKapija.com, also announced.
