Pharmaceutical giant Huvepharma is expanding its production capacity in Europe with the purchase of Euroapi’s plant in Italy

The Bulgarian pharmaceutical company Huvepharma has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Italian company Euroapi Italy S.r.l. The deal includes the transfer of the production complex in Pieve Porto Morone, which specializes in the manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), BalkanEngineer.com learned from the company’s official announcement.

The acquired facility in Pieve Porto Morone has over 80 years of history in the chemical-pharmaceutical sector and features a fermentation capacity of over 2,000 m³, as well as modern chemical synthesis and purification facilities. The plant meets the highest international quality standards, including certifications from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), ensuring compatibility with global markets.

Through this acquisition, Huvepharma further strengthens its position as one of the world leaders in the field of biotechnology and fermentation. The new facility will enable the company to expand its portfolio of active ingredients for human and veterinary medicines, optimize its raw material supply chain within the European Union, and offer expanded contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) services to its international partners.
