Over recent years, the theme of social responsibility is part of business, and sometimes, it is reflected in the results achieved. Present in larger campaigns, companies are shifting their attention to initiatives that are smaller but still have a visible effect on local communities. An example of such a move is with Bulgarian production firm TESY, who requires its employees to play a key role in realizing long term ideas. Engineer.bg was told more about how the company implements social responsibility in practice.

During 2024, a group of employees from the company undertook an initiative to plant trees in the city of Shumen, Bulgaria. The initiative came up without a formal framework and acted more as a personal desire to contribute to nature.

A year later, the initiative received institutional support. The assistance from the Shumen Municipality allowed access to the appropriate instruments, saplings and logistics, and the employees again took an active role in pushing the initiative forward. Some of the planted trees are already developing nicely, others require more care, and some do not survive - a natural process that emphasizes the need for perseverance in the implementation of such causes.

"An activity that started as a small gesture has become an example of what we can achieve together. It is important that the initiative comes from the people themselves, and we as a company simply create the conditions for it to develop," commented TESY.

The company’s engagement also encompasses education, putting a focus on the early development of practical skills. The national round of the computer modeling competition for 3rd and 4th grade students, held at the Sava Dobroplodni Secondary School in Shumen, brings together participants from all over the country with a strong interest in technology and logical thinking. The event places children in an environment where knowledge is applied through solving specific tasks, and TESY's support is aimed at creating conditions for such experiences at an early age.
