Faced with increasingly high customer requirements and the specifics of certain projects in which heat exchange technologies are built, engineers and designers are often "lost" in the many market offers and in the choice of the optimal type and model of heat exchanger. This is why Hexonic, an established developer and manufacturer of heat exchangers, has developed its own software tool for their selection and configuration. "Cairo is a free and intuitive software that supports specialists in thermal and hydraulic calculations, offering a streamlined way to choose the right product for their needs," the company's Bulgarian office told BalkanEngineer.com.

Cairo software – a "weapon" in the hands of engineers

When choosing a heat exchanger, efficiency and reliability are the leading criteria, but a number of other factors and parameters must also be taken into account, mostly determined by the specifics of the application. Having this in mind, the software developed by Hexonic takes into account both the technical characteristics of the devices and the designer's point of view in order to provide an optimal solution.

Here are the functionalities that Cairo offers:

  • Selection of heat exchangers based on input parameters – flow rate, temperature, pressure and fluid type;
  • Performance calculations, including thermal efficiency, pressure drop and capacity;
  • Generation of technical documentation – e.g. data sheets, dimensional drawings and installation instructions;
  • Support for multiple product lines, including plate and tube heat exchangers and customized solutions.

"Cairo is our strongest weapon – we measure almost every heat exchanger we manufacture and can simulate and select solutions for every case. It contains 3D files, physical properties of many of the fluids, 2D illustrations and volumetric dimensions. The software is translated entirely in Bulgarian and is constantly updated without the need to install new versions, as it is entirely web-based," said Hexonic's Bulgarian office.
