The state-owned energy company Elektrani of North Macedonia (ESM) has signed an agreement with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy for the second phase of the development of the Bogdantsi wind park, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from a company announcement.

The expansion will add four more turbines with an individual capacity of 3.4 MW, bringing the total cost of the project to 37.6 million euro.
Financing is coming from several sources: 25.7 million euro comes from a loan from the German development bank KfW, 8.9 million euro is provided in the form of a grant from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), and the remaining nearly 3 million euro will be provided by ESM itself.
According to ESM Director General Lazo Uzunchev, construction of the new turbines will take about 13 months, with construction expected to start in the summer of 2027.
Following the expansion, the Bogdanci wind farm, which has been in operation since July 2015, will increase its capacity from 36.8 MW to 50 MW, cementing its position as a key source of renewable energy in the country.
