With an investment of EUR 6 million in a photovoltaic system, the TAB Slovenia group, a leader in the battery industry, will produce 13,256 MWh of electricity per year, which will cover about 25% of the needs of its company TAB MAC in North Macedonia, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from biznisvesti.mk.
The commissioning of the photovoltaic power plant was marked with an official ceremony at the TAB MAK factory complex in Probishtip, North Macedonia, in the presence of Kristina Odzaklieska, Deputy Minister of Environment, Dragan Anastasov, Mayor of the Municipality of Probishtip, and Gregor Presker, Ambassador of Slovenia to the country, Roman Buria, CEO of TAB Slovenia, as well as representatives of TAB MAK management and employees.
The 8.6 MW photovoltaic plant is built on a 10 ha site and is equipped with 15 288 monocrystalline double-faced photovoltaic panels that are connected in series to string inverters. The facility also includes two 4 500 kVA transformer stations connected to its own existing 10/35 kV substation.
The overall investment is planned to be executed in three phases, the first of which was completed in February this year and includes the PV plant. With this step, the share of electricity from renewable sources in the TAB Group increases to a total of 25%, which represents a major step towards increasing sustainability.
In the second phase of the investment, a 3.2 MW photovoltaic plant is to be built on the roofs of TAB MAC's existing buildings, and in the third phase a large industrial electricity storage facility is to be built.
