Romanian chemical products company Chimcomplex has successfully completed a €2.4 million project aimed at implementing an innovative technology for the production of environmentally friendly polyols, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Romanian-insider.com. The activities were carried out at the company's base in Rumniku Valcha and were officially concluded on April 30 of this year.
The main goal of the project is to improve Chimcomplex's production processes to be more ecological and in line with the principles of the circular economy.
The investment comes after Chimcomplex opened one of Europe's most advanced polyols plants in 2022 at a cost of €40 million, increasing its production capacity to over 187,000 t per year. The new production line, focused on the production of special environmental polyols, will further increase this capacity by another 17,000 t per year.
The introduction of these new specialty polyols is expected to have a significant impact on the environment, with the company projecting to reduce its CO2 emissions by up to 3,400 t each year.
The project is co-financed by the Business Development, Innovation and SMEs program, with the operator being the Norwegian company Innovation Norway.
