In order to improve the quality of its production, the Romanian manufacturer Dacia is planning an investment of 17 million euro for the complete automation of a car painting plant, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Romania-insider.com. The company is seeking state aid amounting to 7.5 million euro to support its project.

The expected entry into production of Dacia’s new SUV model – Bigster, towards the end of 2024 puts pressure on the quality standards and forces the company to invest in automation of its factory. The project will involve a change in the applied technology as well as in the general painting process of Dacia vehicles. The facility’s modernization will include elements of innovation, the details of which have not yet been disclosed. The project will not create new jobs, on the contrary – it would lead to dismissal of staff due to the automation of the processes.

At the beginning of September, the Romanian manufacturer announced on its website that it was launching a limited series of Logan XX vehicles, marking 20 years since the sedan model’s first generation was put on the market.
