Japanese medical equipment manufacturer Pentax Medical is expanding its production capacity in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, with a new investment of more than BGN 10 million, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Economic.bg. The company aims to increase production of disposable bronchoscopes.
With the new investment in expanding the Plovdiv facility, the company will also create 74 new jobs. For this purpose, it will purchase laser cutting machines, warehouse systems and equipment and specialised tools for assembling endoscopes. The construction of a microbiology laboratory is also planned.
Thus Pentax Medical, owned by the Japanese NOYA Corporation, consolidates its presence in Bulgaria. The company, which specialises in endoscopic procedures for patients, has offices in over 15 countries worldwide.
Pentax Medical initially invested BGN 6 million in Bulgaria in 2012 and subsequently invested another BGN 8 million to build Europe's largest service centre for medical endoscopes. For its new investment, the company received a Class A certificate from the Bulgarian Investment Agency.
