Albania will provide a sum of 3 million euros for the implementation of a program to support start-ups through direct funding, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com. Minister of Entrepreneurship and Business Climate Delina Ibrahimaj announced that the start of the program has been given on February 16, 2024.
The Albanian government has approved a decision to pave the way for the development of the country's startup ecosystem. New companies will be supported through direct funding in three phases, with around 50-80 projects expected to benefit from the assistance. The total fund earmarked under the programme for 2024 is €3 million.
The first phase of the initiative opened on 16 February and will remain open for 30 days. In the initial phase, support reaches a maximum of LE 1.5 million and anyone with an idea can apply for it.
The second phase will support entities that have been in the market for 1 year, which means they have filed financial reports for 1 year and have created a prototype that they will be able to develop through the funds. In this phase, financial support reaches a maximum of 4.5 million Lek.
The third phase provides support for entities that have already developed a marketable prototype but still need funding for growth or internationalization. Financial support in this phase reaches up to 9 million leks.
