Visteon, a leading global supplier of innovative automotive technologies, officially opened Bulgaria's first high-tech laboratory for testing automotive technologies, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Economy.bg. The investment exceeds 10 million dollars, and more than 70 highly qualified Bulgarian specialists will be engaged in it.
The event of the opening of Visteon's laboratory in Bulgaria was honored with the presence of a number of official guests, among whom were the company's executive director Sachin Lavande, the ambassador of the United States of America to Bulgaria H.E. Kenneth Merten, the Minister of Innovation and Growth Milena Stoicheva, as well as the Deputy Mayor for Finance and Health of the Capital Municipality Ivan Vassilev.
In his statement at the ceremony, Visteon CEO Sachin Lavande highlighted the need for innovation in the automotive industry, where digitization, connectivity and electromobility play a key role. He emphasized Visteon's determination to be a leading figure in this transformation by developing high quality and reliable technologies. Lavande also emphasized the importance of the laboratory in Sofia and the expert equipment it provides.
The laboratory will perform a variety of tests covering the entire product cycle – from the early design phase to mass production. Products developed for the leading German, French and British car manufacturers will be subjected to various tests simulating real conditions and extreme situations. The aim is to ensure their maximum reliability and security. Visteon's electronics, electrical and mechanical specialists will perform various types of testing for resistance to various climatic conditions, vibration, particle and water penetration, and immunity to electromagnetic interference. The laboratory in Sofia will be the main point for tests on electromagnetic compatibility and resistance.
The new facility is an important addition to the rich portfolio of services offered by Visteon's technology center in Sofia, highlighting the importance of the engineering hub in Bulgaria, which plays a key role in the company's operations throughout Europe and continues to develop actively.
