Trial production of the Fiat Grande Panda electric car has begun in the Serbian city of Kragujevac, BalkanEngineer.com learned from Business.dir.bg. Serial production is scheduled to start in two months.
The official ceremony at the Stellantis carmaker's plant was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and company CEO Carlos Tavares.
Stellantis is the majority owner of the factory in Kragujevac, and the Serbian state holds a minority share based on a strategic partnership agreement signed with FIAT in 2008. The investment in the factory, which amounts to 190 million euros, is joint, as FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) invests 142 million euros, and the Serbian government - 48 million euros.
The new model will be available in two versions - electric and hybrid, and will initially be delivered to Europe, and then to the Middle East and Africa. The price of the all-electric version will start from under 25,000 euros, and in Serbia, thanks to the announced state subsidies, the model is expected to cost around 18,000 euros.
