Romanian oil company Rompetrol Rafinare said it has invested $6.5 million (€5.9 million) to upgrade two storage tanks at its Petromidia refinery. BalkanEngineer.com has learned this from SeeNews.com. The investment is part of a programme to rehabilitate and modernise the storage park.
So far, the company has invested about $10 million in the rehabilitation of storage tanks at its Petromidia and Vega refineries. The entire project covers about 50 storage units and will run until 2027. Two other tanks are currently being rehabilitated.
Rompetrol Rafinare is the main asset of the Netherlands-based international oil company KMG International (formerly The Rompetrol Group), which is wholly owned by Kazakhstan's state-owned energy company KazMunayGaz Group. The main shareholders are KMG International, holding 54.63% of the shares, and the Romanian state through the Ministry of Energy with 44.7%.
