Romanian plastics manufacturer TeraPlast has announced the opening of a new stretch film plant at its industrial park in Saratel (Sărățel), Bistrita-Nasaud County, BalkanEngineer.eu has learned from SeeNews.com. The investment amounts to EUR 18.5 million and is supported by state aid, which covers 50% of the eligible costs. This represents an important step in the company's development, which aims to strengthen its presence in the European market.

The plant has two production lines with a total capacity of over 14 000 t per year. The investment is expected to generate an annual turnover of EUR 28 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 4 million euros, representing a margin of 14%. The project is part of the company's strategy of sustainable development and modernisation of production facilities.

TeraPlast is part of the TeraPlast Group, which also includes TeraGlass, TeraPlast Recycling, TeraBioPack and Somplast. Despite market challenges, the company remains stable, although it reported a decline in net profit in the first quarter of 2022. The new plant focuses on innovation and sustainability as TeraPlast seeks to consolidate its position as a leading manufacturer in the region.
