Norofert, Romania's leading producer of agricultural commodities, is entering the US with a €250,000 investment, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Romania-insider.com. The company, founded in 2000 by the Popescu family, is also involved in research in regenerative agriculture, and its expansion into the US market is a strategic move to replicate the successful model from Romania.
The investment, in partnership with Gary Lamb, an experienced Midwest agribusiness entrepreneur, aims to create a production line for soil health and foliar nutrition products similar to those in Romania. The facility should begin construction in early April of this year. The production line will be located in leased space, and the automation that will be implemented will allow the company to maintain a small number of employees for the first year. Concentrated bacterial strains from Norofert's laboratory in Romania will be used for production, and preliminary orders are now in for the bacterial fertilisers to be produced in the new factory.
"This is a mature market where farmers are applying advanced technology and where climate change does not have the same negative impact as in Eastern Europe. The feasibility of the project is even greater as we benefit from the results of the microorganism propagation laboratory in Romania," said Vlad Popescu, president of the Norofert board.
Norofert's expansion into the US is in line with the company's broader vision of global growth and innovation in sustainable agriculture.
