Renewable energy company RP Global is planning to build a solar power plant of up to 100 MW with battery storage on the territory of Sremska Mitrovica in Serbia. BalkanEngineer.com has learned this from Balkangreenenergynews.com.
The power plant will cover almost 201 ha, of which 93% is arable land. According to the plan, the facility can also be built as an agrosolar plant. Its type will be determined during project development. It should be noted that agro-solar projects are increasingly common in the region.
Solar energy storage in batteries is also becoming more popular in the renewable energy sector. Such modules are installed stand-alone or integrated with solar power plants or other renewable energy sources. RP Global's planned investment is the third with batteries in Serbia.
RP Global is an Austrian renewable energy developer with a global project portfolio of 15,800 MW. Wind and solar power dominate its portfolio. The company is also active in Southeast Europe, primarily in Croatia, where it is working on photovoltaic and wind farm projects with a total capacity of 500 MW. The company registered its subsidiary in Serbia in 2021.
