In one of the most modern factories in Europe, featuring a high degree of automation and the latest generation of robots - Punai DOO Kraljevo (Serbia), the production of refractories has started, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Ekapija.com. A ribbon-cutting ceremony officially marked the new start of operations at the former Magnochrom plant, so the tradition of making refractory bricks in the city continues.
The reconstruction of the factory in Kraljevo began in 2022. According to Punai Serbia's general director Fan Yun Ling, the plan to build the factory is being implemented in two phases. In the first, production capacity for 30,000t of magnesite carbon brick products and 10,000t of unformed products is being built. In the second phase, production capacity for 20 000 t of magnesia carbon bricks and 10 000 t of unformed products will be built.
Once everything is operational, an annual production capacity of 50 000 t of magnesia carbon bricks and 20 000 t of unformed products will be reached. The products are primarily destined for buyers in Europe.
Representatives of the Chinese company Punai announced that the first phase of the project, which has been completed, has a total cost of EUR 10.8 million. Once both phases are fully completed and the production line is operational, the company will employ more than 30 local workers, contributing around €70 million of industrial production value to the local economy.
