Lidl Stiftung & Co, a popular German discount retailer, is set to further strengthen its operations in Serbia with the establishment of a third logistics centre - this time in Belgrade, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com. The ambitious project, covering an expansive 51.55 hectares on the outskirts of the Serbian capital, underlines the company's commitment to increasing operational efficiency and strengthening its supply chain network in the region.
The detailed zoning plan, provided by the Belgrade city government, offers insight into a strategic retail development that is expected to significantly strengthen Lidl's logistics capabilities in Serbia. Although the exact financial investment remains undisclosed, the scale of the project reflects Lidl's significant commitment to the Serbian market and the company's long-term growth strategy in the country.
Since entering the Serbian market in October 2018, Lidl has rapidly expanded its reach, currently operating a network of 64 stores across the country. The addition of the third logistics centre in Belgrade to the existing two in Nova Pazova and Lapovo further strengthens Lidl's logistics infrastructure, enabling the company to efficiently meet growing consumer demand and ensure seamless supply chain operations.
