KEMET Electronics Macedonia has invested 400 000 euro in the construction of a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 609 kWp, as reported by BalkanEngineer.com, citing emagazin.mk. This plant is expected to generate approximately 750 MWh of electricity annually, replacing around 10% of the company's total energy consumption with clean, renewable energy, thereby reducing carbon emissions by 600 tons per year. The photovoltaic system consists of 1 100 modern solar panels, covering an area of 4 500 m².
According to Francesco Tatoli, Deputy Director of KEMET Electronics Macedonia, this investment is part of the company's long-term sustainability strategy. The new plant not only optimizes production costs and enhances the company's competitiveness but also contributes to environmental protection. Tatoli highlighted that the company plans to continue with intensive investments that will bring additional value to the group, employees, and the local community.
KEMET Electronics Macedonia began operations in 2012, focusing on the production of electrical capacitors and other components used in various industries. Over the past 12 years, the company has invested more than 40 million euros and exports all its production. Currently, over 500 people are employed at the North Macedonian branch, with expectations for continued workforce growth.
Since 2020, KEMET Electronics Macedonia has been part of the global corporation YAGEO, a leader in the production of electronic components. YAGEO has manufacturing facilities in Europe, Asia, and America, and is a leading producer of chip resistors and tantalum capacitors worldwide. The corporation employs over 40 000 people and operates 20 research centres dedicated to innovation technology and product improvements.
