Johnson Matthey has marked a significant achievement with the production of 150 million products at its factory in Skopje, northern Macedonia, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from emagazin.mk. One out of three cars in Europe - passenger or commercial - uses a catalytic converter or filter manufactured there, underlining the company's important role in protecting the environment. Johnson Matthey catalysts reduce harmful emissions such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides, preventing 20 million tonnes of pollutants from entering the atmosphere each year.
According to the company's COO for Europe, Borjan Borozanov, this achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the team in Skopje. "Our commitment to innovation and sustainability leads to a cleaner and brighter future," he commented, underlining the importance of these efforts for society and nature.
The Skopje factory, opened in 2009, is Johnson Matthey's largest manufacturing facility in the world and employs around 900 people. Its main focus is on the production of emission control catalysts, which play a key role in reducing pollutants from vehicle exhaust, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment.
