Industrial and logistics space in Sofia, Bulgaria, increased by 18,700 sqm in the first half of this year, Nikola Belchev, industrial and logistics consultant at Colliers, a real estate company, said in an interview with Bloombergtv.bg. However, there has been some slowdown in the sector, which is mainly due to higher prices of construction materials, BalkanEngineer.com has also learned.
Apart from Sofia, a strong development of industrial zones is also visible in the city of Plovdiv, where a number of new manufacturing plants are opening their doors. Varna and Ruse are also striving to reach this development.
Currently, the main investments are from Asia, mainly from South Korea and China, and are mainly focused on the automotive sector and the production of batteries for electric vehicles. Investment flow from Western Europe is also expected to increase due to high prices of industrial land there, Mr Belchev believes.
