North Macedonia's industrial production in June this year compared to June last year increased by 3.7 percent, while in the period January-June 2023 compared to the same period last year it increased by 1.5 percent, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from Sitel.com.mk.
Broken down by sector, industrial production in the Mining and Quarrying sector in June 2023 compared to June 2022 saw a decline of 1.6 percent, while the Manufacturing and Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning sectors saw increases of 1.4 percent and 39.9 percent, respectively.
The Office for National Statistics said that the increase in the manufacturing sector was primarily the result of increased production in the following sectors: manufacture of beverages, manufacture of tobacco products, manufacture of textiles, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, manufacture of other non-pharmaceutical metal mineral products, manufacture of basic metals, manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers and manufacture of furniture.
By major industry group, output in June 2023 compared to June 2022 saw increases in Energy by 17.7% and Capital Goods by 15.6%, while declines were reported in Intermediate Products, excluding Energy by 1.4%, Consumer Durables by 7.2%, and Consumer Nondurables by 1%.
