The first hydrogen charging station in the country and the region was opened in Bulgaria, BalkanEngineer.com learned from BTA. The station is located in the Hitmobile Competence Center, which was created by a group of scientific institutes, including the Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).

The main goal of the Hitmobil center is to promote the development and implementation of innovative technologies for the storage of energy from renewable sources and its efficient use both in the home and in industry, thus providing clean and secure energy sources.

Evelina Slavcheva, chairperson of the BAS General Assembly, emphasized the importance of the hydrogen charging station as the region's first field laboratory for testing and developing clean energy systems.

The construction of the station is the result of the joint efforts of the companies Delektra, Aquahim and Monbat, and the station itself was manufactured by the Austrian company EDC-ANLAGENTECHNIK. The facility offers charging options at the two standard pressures for compressed hydrogen – 350 and 700 bar.

The station can store up to 70 kg of compressed hydrogen, providing a range of up to 7,000 km. Its capabilities for compressing hydrogen are of the order of 40-50 kg per day, which is enough for daily charging of 10-15 cars or two buses.
