An official ceremony at the CT Park industrial zone in Jagodina, Serbia, marked the start of construction of a factory for glass pharmaceutical packaging, BalkanEngineer.com has learned from SeeNews.com. SCHOTT Pharma's new facility in the Serbian city will specialise in the production of glass ampoules, syringes and containers for injectable solutions, focusing on the needs of the Western and Eastern European markets. This investment represents a significant contribution to the local economy, promising new opportunities to improve the labour market.
SCHOTT Pharma supplies 1,800 customers on all continents, and with a production capacity of 25,000 injections per minute, the company ranks among the largest suppliers in the global pharmaceutical industry.
The pharmaceutical leader will employ 130 workers in the first phase and 350 by the end of the project. Production is expected to start by the end of 2024, with the main product it will produce being glass ampoules for storing a wide range of drugs, from antibiotics to analgesics.
SCHOTT Pharma is represented in all major pharmaceutical centres with 17 production sites in Europe, the Americas and Asia, employing 4,700 scientists. According to the manufacturer's website, SCHOTT Pharma achieved sales revenue of €899 million in 2022, a 9% increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
